Timisoara (German alternative Temeswar Temeschburg in Hungarian Temeşvar in trad. “City of the Timis”) is the capital and largest city of the county of Timis, Banat, Romania. Village name comes from the river Timis, called by the Romans in ancient times or Tibiscus Tibisis. It has a population of 336,089 inhabitants.Together with the surrounding residential areas, the population figure is around 400,000 inhabitants.

Timisoara is situated in south-eastern plain of the Tisza, in area rivers Timis and Bega digression. The waters of two rivers have formed here a very marshy and frequently flooded land. Timisoara but has developed into one of the few places where they could go marshes.

Emblem 

Emblem of the city suffered during the many changes but has retained most of the elements characterized. Currently the official emblem is cut into two parts by a horizontal line. Upper half is divided again into two halves by a vertical line. Above are seven towers that symbolize the seven Romanian provinces. In the top left, red background, a bridge over natural waves of gold with two arched openings, built of hewn stone (Trajan’s Bridge), from which emerges a golden lion. In the right corner, a stone tower with double cornices (former water tower of the castle), two round windows upstairs and downstairs a gate that can see a black iron wheel (water mill). At the top left of the tower can see a purple flag with a silver cross, right tricolor flag drill, introduced after 1989, a symbol of revolution started in Timisoara.
